The
last time it happened was an impromptu family picnic in Fairmont Park,
Philadelphia, PA. It was a warm September day and Hugh Connelly along
with his son's and their families gathered in the park near their home for
a family picnic in 1905.
They
were celebrating the 1 year anniversary of William's successful business -
"Connelly Confectionaries." This was a small candy store near the
Art Museum district in Philadelphia. We have a great picture of
William with their horse-drawn wagon and the storefront.
During the picnic they realized that it was also 25 years since Hugh
became a citizen. So now, they had two reasons to celebrate!
Today,
100 years since the last family reunion and 125 years since our ancestor
became a citizen we should gather in his honor and rekindle the family
connections.
The
reunion was held in Sea Isle City, New Jersey on May 27th from 4pm to
8pm at the Townsend Inlet Civic Center 85th street in Sea Isle City, NJ.
